With a growing portfolio of over 100 hotels, with 15,000 rooms in the UK, Ireland, Europe and Russia, alongside the 1,400-hotel portfolio managed by our U.S. based division Aimbridge Hospitality, we are the world’s leading hotel management company. Originally founded over 50 years ago in the U.S, Interstate Hotels & Resorts established the European and Russian divisions in 2013. Since then, we’ve consistently delivered exceptional results for our hotel owners, teams and brand partners. We provide unmatched innovation, expertise and success in the hospitality industry, with undoubted potential ahead.
A true success story, Interstate Hotels & Resorts started small. In 1960, we began with a single motel in Pennsylvania. We first expanded to develop and operate Howard Johnson properties throughout the state. Then, in the early 1970s, we began our long partnership with Marriott, building on our expertise in hospitality industry development, ownership, and operations. By the end of the decade, we owned and operated four hotels with 1,800 rooms across four states. Our upward trajectory would continue.

Our growth skyrocketed to new levels in the 1980s, with new offerings including new-build hotel project management, interior design and FF&E services. We opened and managed The Charles Hotel in Cambridge, Massachusetts. We developed additional Marriott-branded properties: the Pittsburgh Airport Marriott; the Sawgrass Marriott in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida; and the San Francisco Marriott Fisherman’s Wharf. As the decade came to a close, we operated 25 hotels in partnership with Marriott. We also created relationships with other prominent hotel companies, leading to an extraordinary 29 hotels with more than 10,300 rooms in 15 states in our portfolio. Much more was to come, soon.

The 1990s were pivotal. We began the decade by forming our Crossroads Hospitality select-service division, which quickly doubled its portfolio. By the end of the decade, 230 hotels were under our management, including the Roosevelt Hotel in New York City. We also continued our close relationship with Marriott, expanding our portfolio to include the Courtyard by Marriott Times Square South. And, in a sign of future growth horizons, we expanded internationally to three hotels in Moscow.
