Representatives from Interstate Europe Hotels & Resorts joined a list of high profile speakers and hospitality experts at the Annual Hotel Conference recently, leading discussions on the issues and challenges facing the sector.
Steve Terry, vice president of development, and former managing director of Interstate Europe, Robert Crook, took part in panel debates at the two-day event which was held at the Hilton Deansgate in Manchester.
Steve joined four other experts from across the hotel industry to deliver a panel session entitled ‘Make it Count’, advising the audience on implementing a viable development scheme and how to work around potential hazards.
His talk covered the benefits of third-party management and how Interstate can help support owners and investors with expert advice and guidance from the outset of a property purchase, through to its opening and beyond.
Robert’s talk formed part of a panel discussion called ‘Double Take’, looking at how long hoteliers will be able to sustain both franchise and online travel agency (OTA) fees.
Along with representatives from the industry, including hotel owners and accommodation booking websites, Robert raised points about the fast-paced development and capabilities of OTAs, thanks to ever-improving technology, and the threats the sites pose to hoteliers seeking direct bookings.
As one of the UK’s largest hotel industry events outside London, the Annual Hotel Conference is a key date in the diary for the individual, boutique and consortium hotel owners, operators and managers segment of the industry.
